A Very Merry McMorris Christmas Carol | December 2019
Just hours before Christmas, a community came together to show their love for the McMorris family. A show of Christmas support, more than 300 friends, family members, Scouts and loved ones gathered outside the home of Alisa and John McMorris and their daughter Arianna McMorris for caroling Sunday night.
Joining MADD at the New York Stock Exchange | December 20th, 2019
The Andrew McMorris Foundation was honored today to go with MADD NY to ring the closing bell on the New York Stock Exchange. We are so thankful for the tremendous support MADD has provided us ever since we lost Andrew to a drunk driver and this was such an amazing experience to promote MADD. We will forever be united with MADD to do whatever we can to ensure what happened to us to never happen to anyone else. We look forward to doing a lot of good work in Andrew’s name with MADD in the future.

Andrew McMorris Hike "Finish The Hike" Memorial Hike | September 30, 2019
On September 30, 2018, Troop 161 of Shoreham and the entire Suffolk County Council scouting family was affected by the tragic crash that took place as this group of boys and leaders were on a Sunday hike. As a result of this crash, scout Andrew McMorris passed away.
Mid Island Air Service Flight School Honors Andrew | July 2019
We’re very touched that Mid Island Air Service Flight School at MacArthur Airport in Islip honored Andrew by dedicating their flight simulator room to him. Andrew used this simulator many times last summer while he was participating in their Aerocamp and he learned so much about piloting from using it.

Every year, AMF gives out Andrew McMorris Spirit Awards to two deserving 8th graders at Shoreham-Wading River Middle School. The Andrew McMorris Spirit Award was created to honor SWR 8th grade students who exemplify Andrew’s spirit by helping others without the need or desire for recognition.

Troop 161 Andrew McMorris Memorial Garden Dedication | June 5th, 2019
John McMorris, his voice cracking at times, spoke Wednesday of the lifting of grief as he dedicated a rock garden in memory of his son, 12-year-old Andrew, killed when an accused drunken driver plowed into him and his troop of Boy Scouts.

We were so honored by how kind and thoughtful the Air Force Thunderbirds were with us and for them paying homage to Andrew. Andrew loved the Thunderbirds, so it meant so much to us by what they did at the Jones Beach Airshow this weekend. our deepest gratitude to the Thunderbirds as we missed Andrew so much, but their act of kindness brightened our day.
MADD Press Conference to Promote NY State Lowering the Blood Alcohol Content | May 2019
We were in NYC for a press conference with MADD NY to promote NYS lowering the Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) down to .05%. There is a bill going to the NY Senate and Assembly to change the law from .08% to .05% and the press conference will help support this common-sense bill in order to save thousands of lives.
Walk Like MADD - No More Victims | May 2019
We walked like MADD today at Jones Beach in honor of Andrew and to raise money and awareness of the impact drunk driving has on others. We will continue to walk and fight for Andrew and to hopefully put an end to drunk driving. No more victims!
Family Celebrates Son's Birthday in the Air | March 2019
We commemorated Andrew’s 13th birthday by doing a flight in the same Cessna airplane Andrew flew in this past summer. We have found a newfound respect for piloting an airplane as all three of us took a turn flying. It was a bittersweet, tough day but everything we did today was something Andrew would have wanted to do.
McMorris Family Presents Choices & Consequences at Shoreham-Wading River High School | March 2019
Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Brendan Ahern conducted a presentation on “Choices and Consequences,” an educational program on drunk, drugged, and reckless driving to Shoreham-Wading River high school students. Introduced by Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini and student Arianna McMorris, the 90-minute program’s message portrayed the importance of safe driving, good judgement, healthy decision making, and arranging alternate plans for transportation if a person feels like they are in an uncomfortable or unsafe situation.
