CBS News: Drunk and drugged driving is 100% preventable, say the parents of Boy Scout Andrew McMorris. Their son was killed by a driver who refused a sober ride home.Now, the family is partnering with a Long Island holiday summer drunk driving campaign that will begin with increased DWI patrols and checkpoints next Wednesday, July 4.

Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon recently joined roadway safety advocates, including the Andrew McMorris Foundation, to announce a summer campaign targeting drunk driving.

The Andrew McMorris Foundation and McMorris Family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the All Star Dance academy for dancing for Andrew in the Kindness Matter Power of Dance Competition.

On the day that marked 1,591 long days since Alisa and John McMorris of Wading River lost their son, Andrew — Andrew was killed by a drunk driver while out hiking with his Boy Scout troop in Manorville in 2018 — the heartbroken parents traveled with others to Albany to advocate for lowering the legal blood alcohol limit in New York from .08 to .05.

On Saturday, March 25th the Suffolk County Council of Boy Scouts of America and the Andrew McMorris Foundation will host the Second Annual Andrew’s Top Gun Run to raise the funds for Scholarships and Scouterships.  

Alisa & Arianna McMorris represented MADD and AMF at a NYC Press Conference for a safer holiday, joining The New York City Police Department (NYPD), the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT), NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC), and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH).

The Andrew McMorris Foundation is thrilled to announce a record-breaking year for our scholarships, grants, and spirit awards.

In 2022, the Foundation received 85 applications and thanks to the generosity of our donors and community, awarded: 42 Scholarships to graduating high school seniors totaling over $20,225, 5 Aerocamp Grants totaling $5,000, 3 Eagle Scout Grants totaling $1,350, and 2 Spirit Awards.

The Andrew McMorris Foundation was thrilled to sponsor and support MADD’s 1st Annual Long Island Battle of the High School Jazz Bands 2022 . It was a successful event with talented musicians helping raise funds for MADD. The event took place at the NYCB Theater at Westbury, allowing these talented young people the chance to perform on a major stage with professional sound, lighting, and production.

AMF’s Alisa McMorris was honored by the Town of Brookhaven Office of Women’s Services with special commendation for outstanding service in the Town of Brookhaven. Alisa was nominated by Councilwoman Jane Bonner and recognized by Town of Brookhaven Supervisor Ed Romaine for all the work she has done for the community.

The McMorris family of Wading River recently joined Mothers Against Drunk Driving to honor Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-Brooklyn) for his efforts last year to help advance legislation to increase drunk driving prevention technology.

The Andrew McMorris Foundation was honored to present MADD’s Legislative Hero award to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for his leadership in making drunk driving prevention technology part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

The Andrew McMorris Foundation will be helping MADD present U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senate Majority Leader, with its “Legislative Hero” award for his commitment to saving lives by advancing automotive safety technology on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. The award will be presented at West Hills County Park by AMF’s Alisa McMorris and MADD volunteer Sheila Lockwood, whose 23-year-old son Austin was killed by a drunk driver in 2018.
